Free Space Gallery up and coming events

D.M. Pope and Stephen Hennessy on show at the Free Space Gallery

November may be a cold month but at the Free Space Gallery it is hotting up with an opening of a show of new work by D.M. Pope and Stephen Hennessy.
D.M. Pope an animation artist as well as a painter shows his abstract and figurative paintings at Free Space Gallery. His work is anything but straight forward. His methodology involves burning his canvases, layering paint and really creating a textural experience for the viewer.
Stephen Hennessy sees the beauty of the everyday. He paints in a relaxed style concentrating on highlighting the line. His pen drawings are a complex layering of patterns to create scenes with great depth.
So come along and see the work of these two diverse artists.
The show runs until Monday 5th December and is open five days a week inline with surgery hours.
The private view of this exhibition and the chance to meet the artists is Thursday 24th November between 6-9pm.

NHS Reorganisation

The James Wigg Practice believes patients may benefit from some of the proposed NHS reforms. However as ever - 'the devil is in the detail'.
The reforms will be very disruptive and costly to implement. The NHS will no longer be the same as it has been in the past. If planned changes are implemented in full organisations providing services, including hospitals, will effectively become Private. The NHS will become a purchasing organisation; i.e. one that buys services for patients from anyone prepared to offer them and who meets set standards. The monitoring of these standards will be very difficult.
